Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander’st in his shade
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee

그대는 그보다 더 사랑스럽고 온화하지요.
거친 바람이 5월의 고운 꽃봉오리를 뒤흔들고,
우리에게 허락된 여름은 너무 짧습니다.
때때로 태양은 너무 뜨겁고,
가끔 그 황금빛 얼굴이 흐려지는 수도 있지요.
아름다운 것은 언젠가 시들고,
우연이나 아니면 자연의 섭리로 고운 빛마저 사라지지만
그대의 영원한 여름은 퇴색하지 않고,
그대가 지닌 아름다움과 함께 영원하리니.
죽음도 그대의 아름다움을 어둠 속에 가두지 못할 것입니다.
시간과 함께 커나갈 시행 속에서
인간이 숨쉬고, 눈이 볼 수 있는 한,
이 시가 살아 그대에게 생명을 주는 한,
영원한 생명으로 숨을 쉴 것입니다.
